Riem Arcaden / Office East and Hotel, Munich, completed 2003

The overall project Riem Arcaden consists principally of a spacious shopping mall, an office building and a hotel. The Dorint Novotel and a cinema border the "Willy Brandt Platz", the central square. Like curtains of a stage the two buildings form the entrance to the shopping mall. A roof structure parallel to the road, Willy Brandt Allee, puts the deep break caused by the square back into perspective. The roof gives the square a spatial stability and improves the perception of its volume.
